Cybersecurity R&D Engineer II / III

About the role

We are looking for Cybersecurity R&D Engineers (Level II or Level III) to join a hybrid team in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The role focuses on securing networking products such as routers, switches, and firewalls within a global technology organization.

Key responsibilities

• Support product security certifications (NIST FIPS 140, Common Criteria, EU CRA) and perform certification gap analysis.
• Develop and enhance security capabilities through threat modeling, static and dynamic code analysis, penetration testing, hardware security assessments, and AI‑enhanced vulnerability management.
• Evaluate emerging cybersecurity technologies and contribute to the cybersecurity roadmap.
• Collaborate with engineering managers, platform and product teams to embed security throughout the product lifecycle.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
• 2–3 years of experience for Engineer II or 4–6 years for Engineer III, with strong knowledge of cybersecurity concepts, networking protocols, and cryptography.
• Proven ability to support product security initiatives and provide technical guidance to stakeholders.

Required skills

• Cybersecurity and product security fundamentals.
• Networking and network security protocols (TLS, SSH, IPsec).
• Cryptography and security certifications (FIPS 140, Common Criteria).
• Threat modeling, vulnerability assessment, static and dynamic analysis.
• Penetration testing and hardware security assessment.
• Programming in C and/or Python (Rust a plus).
• AI‑assisted vulnerability discovery and Secure Development Lifecycle (SDL) practices.
