Mechanical Design Engineer II – Mechanical Systems

About the role

Honeywell Aerospace is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer II to design and analyze bearings, gears, splines, seals, and lubrication systems for propulsion engines, auxiliary power units, and gearboxes. The role is based in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, with an initial 90‑day onsite period followed by a hybrid schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Utilize state‑of‑the‑art software tools (ANSYS, Romax, CAD) to develop and publish analysis practices and guidelines.
• Design, operate, and analyze test rigs, collect data, and support technical excellence teams.
• Participate in design reviews and ensure documentation meets program deliverables.
• Collaborate with global design teams, chief engineers, and the Mechanical Systems group at the Phoenix Engines site.
• Travel up to 15% as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (science, engineering, mathematics).
• At least 1 year of FEA experience with ANSYS or similar tools.
• Experience with mechanical systems such as bearings, gears, splines, seals, and lubrication.
• Fluent English communication skills, both written and spoken.

Required skills

• ANSYS (FEA) and Romax simulation software.
• 3D CAD modeling.
• Solid mechanics, dynamics, fatigue analysis.
• Knowledge of Six Sigma tools (a plus).
