Principal Full Stack Engineer – Architecture & Platform (Hybrid)

About the role

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Principal Full Stack Engineer to define and govern frontend architecture across enterprise web platforms. The role is based in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico and follows a hybrid schedule with three days onsite and two days remote.

Key responsibilities

• Define and enforce frontend architecture standards, including SPA, micro‑frontend, and domain‑driven UI structuring.
• Lead the design and development of scalable, resilient backend services, APIs, and data‑access layers.
• Establish reusable enterprise component platforms and institutionalize architectural patterns such as layered UI and event‑driven orchestration.
• Set performance budgets, monitor scalability, and architect systems for high concurrency, real‑time streaming, and complex workflows.
• Mentor senior engineers, drive modernization of legacy code, and influence hiring standards for frontend engineering.

Required profile

• STEM degree (or advanced degree) with at least 8 years of relevant experience, or 5 years with an advanced degree.
• U.S. citizenship required to access program‑specific systems.
• Professional proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
• Proven frontend engineering experience and a track record of architecting enterprise‑scale web systems.

Required skills

• JavaScript, TypeScript, and modern frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.
• Object‑oriented programming, system design, and scalable state orchestration.
• Familiarity with CI/CD governance and backend technologies like Java, Python, or Node.js.
• Experience integrating AI/ML capabilities into UI workflows and exposure to mobile/hybrid architecture.
• Understanding of cloud‑native deployment and systems‑engineering concepts.
