Accounts Payable Manager

About the role

SXSE Enterprises is seeking an Accounts Payable Manager to own the end‑to‑end payables function for a portfolio of high‑volume cannabis clients across multiple U.S. states and Puerto Rico. This hands‑on leadership role involves building and coaching a small AP team, maintaining vendor records with precision, and establishing robust controls.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full payment cycle: invoice intake, coding, approval routing, and timely payment runs.
• Maintain accurate vendor records, oversee onboarding, bank detail changes, W‑9 collection, and 1099 reporting.
• Hire, train, and supervise 2‑3 AP Specialists, assigning work, reviewing output, and ensuring deadlines are met.
• Design and enforce controls to prevent fraud, including separation of duties, first‑payment flags, positive pay, and monthly reconciliations.

Required profile

• 5+ years of accounts payable experience, with at least 2 years supervising staff.
• Native or near‑native English proficiency (written and verbal).
• Experience handling high‑volume, multi‑entity AP in regulated or cash‑intensive industries (e.g., cannabis, hospitality, distribution).

Required skills

• Proficiency with QuickBooks Online or comparable platforms (Intacct, NetSuite, Xero).
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Hands‑on experience with ACH, check payments, positive pay, and bank portals.
• Knowledge of three‑way matching and approval workflows.

What we offer

• Base salary $80,000‑$95,000, commensurate with experience.
• Two weeks paid time off, paid sick leave per Puerto Rico law, and eight paid holidays.
