Cybersecurity R&D Engineer III

About the role

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is hiring an Engineer III for its Junos Cybersecurity R&D team within the HPE Networking business unit. The role works at the frontier of cybersecurity, building and sustaining secure routers, switches and firewalls running Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved. It is a hybrid position with about two days per week in an HPE office.

Key responsibilities

• Support security certifications including NIST FIPS 140, Common Criteria and the EU Cybersecurity Resilience Act (EUCRA)
• Develop and enhance product security capabilities such as certification gap analysis, risk-based threat modelling, static and dynamic code analysis, penetration testing, hardware security assessments and AI-enhanced vulnerability management
• Adopt new cybersecurity technologies, take part in developing the cybersecurity roadmap and execute it
• Advise engineering managers, platform teams and product line managers on cybersecurity design and development

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity or an adjacent technical field
• Typically 4-6 years of experience
• Experience driving product security certifications (FIPS 140 and Common Criteria) from gap analysis through to third-party lab submission
• Experience using AI systems for defensive security, including vulnerability discovery and management

Required skills

• Networking security protocols (TLS, SSH, IPsec) and cryptography in networking products
• Programming in C (preferred), Python; Rust is a bonus
• Strong technical communication, verbal and written
