Engineering Manager - Cybersecurity R&D

About the role

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is hiring an Engineering Manager for its Junos Cybersecurity R&D organization within the HPE Networking business unit. The role builds a team at the frontier of cybersecurity, working on secure routers, switches and firewalls running Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved. It is a hybrid position, with about two days per week spent in an HPE office.

Key responsibilities

• Build and lead a team of individual contributors who contribute to security certification readiness, operational EUCRA support, security feature and test harness development, and AI-driven defense.
• Lead dynamically in the face of rapidly changing product security requirements and threats.
• Work closely with peer managers and teams to plan and run cybersecurity projects across geographies.
• Manage headcount, deliverables, schedules and costs for multiple ongoing projects, and communicate project status to stakeholders with clean escalations when needed.
• Drive process improvement and cost-reduction opportunities.
• Provide people-care management, including hiring, annual performance plans, coaching and career development.

Required profile

• First-level university degree or equivalent experience.
• Typically 5 or more years of related work experience and 1-2 years of people management experience.

Required skills

• Broad knowledge of cybersecurity, networking, network products (routers, switches, firewalls), networking operating systems and software engineering.
• Agile leadership, including coaching, team-building and conflict resolution.
• Analytical and technical problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication, including negotiation, presentation and influence.
