Global Commodity Manager - Optics

About the role

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is hiring a Global Commodity Manager (GCM) for Optics, based in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. The role develops and implements the Optics commodity and supply-chain strategies to drive time-to-market, continuity of supply and cost reduction for HPE's Optics business. It is a hybrid position, with about two days per week spent in an HPE office.

Key responsibilities

• Manage optics commodities, including optical hardware systems, pluggable optical and copper modules and cables.
• Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) of optics commodities, guiding suppliers and internal engineering teams through selection and qualification.
• Manage sourcing: build and maintain supplier relations, onboard new suppliers, and run RFI and RFQ processes through to production release.
• Align suppliers' commercial, technical and product roadmaps with Juniper's requirements and lead periodic Supplier Business Reviews.
• Develop the commodity strategy with other GCM peers and implement it with internal stakeholders.
• Work with engineering and PLM teams on technical and business objectives, and with suppliers on regulatory compliance, including TL9000 audits.
• Lead contract negotiations (purchase, NDA and statement-of-work agreements) and negotiate prices with peer GCMs to meet annual cost targets.
• Align supply with backlog and forecast demand with global buyers, contract manufacturers and material managers.
• Maintain optics through all lifecycle phases, identify high-value projects and monitor industry trends to mitigate supply chain risks.

Required profile

• First-level university degree; BS Engineering or equivalent preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in procurement or supply chain (5+ years preferred).
• Ability to work across different programs and products.
• Fluent English.
• General knowledge of optics and their key components preferred.
