Senior Systems/Software Engineer - Cloud & On-Premise Software

About the role

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is hiring a Senior Systems/Software Engineer for cloud and on-premise software development in San Juan. The role is hybrid, with about two days per week spent in an HPE office. The engineer owns one or more product modules end to end, works on multiple features, and acts as a technical leader for significant projects.

Key responsibilities

• Own and deliver one or more product modules end to end, with strong debugging and software design skills.
• Evaluate new technologies and outsourced development partners, and plan their integration into the architecture.
• Review designs and project activities against development guidelines and standards, giving feedback to improve quality.
• Write unit tests, improve code coverage through automation, validate functionality and document test cases before QA handoff.
• Influence technical decisions and mentor less experienced staff.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
• Typically 6-10 years of experience.
• Experience building cloud products with microservices architecture and designing software systems tools and languages.
• Experience in globally distributed teams across time zones and cultures.
• Nice to have: security domain experience and network management systems development.

Required skills

• Core: Go, Java (Spring Boot, Jakarta EE), PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, gRPC, REST, OpenAPI/Swagger.
• Cloud: Apache Kafka, Redis, Docker, Kubernetes, Prometheus, load balancers such as Ambassador.
• DevOps: Bazel, Maven, Helm, Jenkins CI/CD, OAuth2, SAML, JWT.
