Systems/Software Engineer III - Cloud & On-Premise Software Development

About the role

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is hiring a Systems/Software Engineer III for cloud and on-premise software development in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The role is hybrid, with about two days per week spent in an HPE office. The engineer works on one or more modules of a security management platform (Security Director Cloud and Security Director On-Prem) that centralizes policy management, monitoring, configuration and automation for firewalls and hybrid cloud environments.

Key responsibilities

• Own one or more modules end-to-end of the product, coding well-defined tasks and debugging and designing software for enhancements and new products.
• Review and evaluate designs and project activities.
• Follow compliance and development guidelines and standards.
• Ensure high-quality software delivery by writing unit tests, improving code coverage through automation, validating new and existing functionality and documenting and running functional tests before QA handoff.
• Provide technical leadership for significant projects and take part in cross-functional initiatives, mentoring and knowledge sharing.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
• Typically 4-6 years of experience.
• Experience building cloud products with microservices architecture and extensive knowledge of cloud applications and technologies.
• Experience in globally distributed engineering teams across multiple time zones and cultures.
• Nice to have: security domain experience and experience developing network management systems.

Required skills

• Core technologies: Go, Java (Spring Boot, Jakarta EE), PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, gRPC, Protocol Buffers, REST, OpenAPI/Swagger.
• Cloud technologies: Apache Kafka, Redis, Docker, Kubernetes, Prometheus, load balancers such as Ambassador.
• Other tools: Bazel, Maven, Helm, OAuth2, SAML, JWT, Jenkins CI/CD.
